Once in a while a port fails to upgrade, because it wants to write something in
/etc. E.g. perl into /etc/make.conf or other ports into /etc/group.
On my systems / is normally a read only mount. These ports build fine during a
portupgrade and fail during install, leaving most of the port install
[CC'ing freebsd-ports, i hope this is appropriate..]

Can anyone tell me why /var/tmp/INDEX-7.db is getting updated _every_ single
time a run ports_glob(1) ? E.G.

I use the [EMAIL PROTECTED] client on a machine which runs mostly
unattended so it would be a hassle to start it manually after each
boot. Therefor I went ahead and created a rc.d script for it. It is
attached to this mail. I thought it could be useful enough to be
included in the port.
