Did you ever install the fix to the 82573 NIC eeprom? If not
search mail archive for 82573, it's a DOS binary that will
patch your prom. Also check for BIOS update from SM.

Once you locate the fix its a zip file as I recall, when unzipped it is
a DOS executable, you can make a driver diskette and then put
the patcher on that
