As for where to go from here, I don't know what else you can do other than

I am seeing link bounces on an X540T2 connected to an Arista 7050T-64
switch. Running FreeBSD 10.3 amd64
I can see dev.ix.1.mac_stats.local_faults incrementing, with
corresponding link bounces in the logs
