Hi,
May I ask whether FreeBSD's pkg binary packages are compiled on machines
with the release version or the stable version?
I forgot where this explanation appeared. I've been searching for a long
time and haven't found it. Does anyone know where this explanation is in
any documentation or wiki?
Hi,
I don't know what version of FreeBSD they use to build packages, but according
to FreeBSD website(https://www.freebsd.org/ports/), both port collection and
package collections support -STABLE and port collection also supports -CURRENT.
I hope this can answer your question.
Regards,
Minsoo

According to what I’ve read they are compiled with the base RELEASE version,
not STABLE or CURRENT.
