All in all, I think most of the things I experienced last night were
"cosmetic" in nature--however, if they could be polished away, it would make
for a *completely* bullet-proof and awesome install experience--especially for
a new user coming to FreeBSD for the first time.

Indeed. However, as we were talking about this morning in -qa, is a better

Hi all, when the new gcc was imported I spotted a thread saying that the new
kernels *immediately* panicked (trap 12) upon booting. I too saw the same
behavior after a successful buildworld/buildkernel (with a config file
previously working just fine with 5.1-R sources).
Has this been fixed? Can p

Hi all, a few weeks back I had asked whether -current supported ICH5's S-ATA
and Søren stated that he'd put code in to detect it and it "should work" but
there wasn't a lot of feedback yet from users. Well, I have some feedback. I

hello all,
Having had a positive experience thus far with 5.1-RELEASE and -current beyond
that on one of the new boxes I recently built, it is now time to build up the
dual-boot system (BSD for me, WinXP for the wife ;). I've read different
reports (some from laptop users) about using the WinXP lo
ments and will cut-n-paste what I see, but I wanted to see if anybody
else is experiencing anything oddball like this.
