Look like addresses are incorrect "0xa0 0xa2 0xa4 0xa6 0xa8 0xaa 0xac 0xae".

If you have edited /etc/master.passwd by hand to add this user, that could
cause this.
/usr/sbin/pwd_mkdb -p -u vmail /etc/master.passwd
regenerates the database entries for this user, while
