Well, I also needed to set my MTU apparently... ifconfig ql1 mtu 1500 solved

This is known for 12.0. There was nothing that could have been excluded from
the disc1.iso image to reduce the size, while keeping the 'Live CD' mode useful
for system recovery.

Notably, my repro is before r341766. But that commit message does not make it
