I had also problem connecting to the svn:
svn: OPTIONS of 'http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/fpc/trunk': Could not resolve
hostname `svn.freepascal.org': Host not found (http://svn.freepascal.org)
It happened only for 30 minutes or so ...
