Haven't read this thread, so I might be off-topic a bit in the following:
On Windows the best way to copy data in my opinion is WM_COPYDATA message,
but I'm not sure if on Vista it will work ok (haven't tried). If you want to

We have created a FIXES_2_2 branch in svn which will be used to
finalize 2.2. The version number of trunk has been changed to 2.3.1
and will be used for new development.
So unless you need any of the new features in trunk, we'd advise to
