Thanks Ajit, but I've tried this. The define name dialog box accepts
it with the filepath, but once I close the other workbook and try to
update the range I get the error. Ive created two simple workbooks
that demonstrate the problem, if I can figure out how to post them
here.

Yes, once I close the source workbook, the filepath isn't added
automatically and I get a REF error.
