Thanks for that. Tried that but get 'Compile error, Expected Array' on
the word 'range' in the new code.
Have I got something wrong in the setup somewhere? There is not much
there to go wrong! Is Option Explicit a ouproblem?

Try turning off display alerts & screen updating, also change file format
to .xlsb so as to reduce file size..
Without going thru ur machine configuration & environment cant suggest
exact solution..

if you want to specify range address along withh activesheet property then
you got to use activesheet.cells(r,c) syntax
since you are using activesheet.range which doesnt support you are getting
an error..
