[Evolution] Evolution 2.30 / New Mail Notification / OpenSUSE

I have an openSUSE 11.3 box with Evolution 2.30.1.2-3.9.x86_64. Mail notification doesn't seem to work at all. The mail notification plugin is enabled, set to generate d-bus messages, display in the notification area, and to beep. It at least doesn't do either of the last two. What is the best
