Problem affected all accountants (3 POP, 1 IMAP). Some subfolders under InBox have 100s of e-mails. I left evolution running while I monitored with webmail to see if my clients were contacting me. Suggestion to rename mail subfolder to mail.old and restart evolution got things working correc
