Thanks a lot! The tool also works on Ubuntu 14.04, although it is in a slightly
different folder, command example:
/usr/lib/evolution/3.10/evolution-addressbook-export --format=csv
–output=/home/.../mycontacts.csv
The format csv is surely easier to process than vcf.

Does anybody know how to extract a list of names and birthdays & anniversaries

Evolution?
I tried to export the address book as vcf and then convert it in a list,
but did not succeed. I searched the internet for a solution without success.
