Thanks to all.
It's nice when a post has a definite answer.

Nope. I've got "Plain Text" selected. I get even stranger results if I
select HTML mode.

I'm just trying to copy and past a phone number (well, two of them in
one cell: 222 222 ; 333 333 ) from a cell in a OO Cals
spreadsheet to the contents of an Evolution email message. Simple, huh?
I copy stuff to Evolution messages all the time.

Can someone explain this:
I've been using Tomboy with my openSUSE install and enjoying it. After I
installed Ubuntu 10.04, I would get an error message on startup, to the
effect that Tomboy couldn't be opened or found (I've forgotten the exact
message). So I went to Synaptic Pacakage Manager and t
Is there a bottom line to this problem? I just spent a half hr reading
various reports about this problem (seems to go back many years) and all
I see are work-arounds. Did I miss a solution or is there none? Is it
just a Ubuntu problem?
I switched to Ubuntu 10.04, which provides Evolution 2.28.3,

I keep getting an error message when I try to Empty Trash or Expunge
Folder. I also tried to reduce the size of a large folder by moving some
mail to a different folder and got the same kind of error message.
There are now about 175 emails in my Trash folder that won't go away.

What would cause Evolution, in the middle of the morning after running
nicely all morning, to suddenly decide that it doesn't know the
passwords to get into my mail server? I did nothing to Evolution or the
settings that could cause this.

A nice feature would be an easier way to enter over-midnight entries:
that is, something that starts at 11pm and goes to12:30am. Right now, it
seems that one has to change the day on the second part of the entry and
the entry then goes into the "All Day Event" category. We're not really

It sounds like your issue is the one I went through back in December.
See the thread "Opening pdf attachments" that starts Dec 15th (check the

I reinstalled Firefox and now when I click on a URL in a piece of
Evolution mail, while Firefox opens, the URL doesn't get transferred and
so I have to copy and paste it in.
I can't find where I would set that to happen. I'm assuming that's an
Evolution setting, but maybe not.
Thanks.

I see lots of posts about similar problems, but there doesn't seem to be
a solution that I've found.
I'm running Evo 2.24.1.1, which is the latest version for openSuse 11.1.
When I get a pdf attachment, I often do not get the option to open the
attachment with either Acrobat reader or Evince. One

One of my folders has somehow gotten messed up. About a month's worth of
emails are missing, although the titles show in the list of emails. But
when I click on the titles I get connected to a very different piece of
mail. That is, for about the month prior to when the emails are missing,

After years of working fine, Evolution (2.22.1.1 on openSUSE 11.0)
suddenly began putting email from my wife (coming from the same mail
server that I get email from) in junk. I haven't changed any of the
Evolution settings. Anyone have any idea what might cause this? And how
to fix it--marking the
folder. I tried to copy
and past them into it but nothing would paste.

Any idea what might cause my "Sent" folder to be suddenly empty? All the
other folder are OK. Last time I looked there were probably over 1000
emails in the folder, so I can't have selected all of them and deleted
them--at any rate they would then be in the "Trash" folder, which hasn't
been emptied
