trying to get my mail from the Yahoo server.

Evolution.
Since Evolution is not in Debian backports, does this mean that I can't
sync my Gmail contacts while I am using the current stable Debian
release Jessie without installing a newer version of Evolution from
outside the official Debian repositories?

For now I'll return to Thunderbird. Evolution is a nice piece of
software, and I wanted to use it because it integrates well with Gnome,
but in the end I am too used to my workflow using Thunderbird.

Using 3.10.4, it does the same for me EXCEPT if I back the mouse up just
slightly until the pointer is within the selected text. Then I get the
menu you wanted. That seems logical to me as the mouse pointer is
outside of the selected text unless I back it up slightly.

You want to use Debian, use Debian, not a fork that includes spyware
(see Richard Stallman on ubuntu)
