In Evolution as you are setup now you have 2 accounts "On My Computer" and
whatever you named the Account with your ISP. Under the On My Computer inbox
you can create a hierarchy of folders to contain your archives. Then create a
filter rule that looks at your IMAP inbox (or other folder
POP won't allow him to download the files he has already moved to
server folders, but it's the easiest solution for any future mail he
receives IMHO.
Not everyone needs to access his mail from multiple devices. :-)

You need to configure your email as a new evolution account. There's no

How do I do that? I went through all the account properties and could
not find a way to change to POP without recreating the account, which I
don’t want to do. Also, does Evolution have the ability to leave mail
on the server so I have access to it remotely? It used to, but that was

Even easier would be to configure the same account in evolution using
POP, which is what you had been using in the previous evolution
version.

Milan,
Thanks for the info. All went reasonably well, but I did run into one
issue that I need to fix. One of the sub-folders didn't copy and now
I'm getting the error "Error refreshing folder: STATUS Invalid mailbox

Yes, you are right. This would be more approriate in a Ubuntu forum, but
probably not practical for us to move this thread there. Besides, I've seen a

Yes, I quite understand about the whole version/package delay thing. I've also
used Slackware for years which is even more dramatic in this respect. However, I
though I was using the "latest" stable version.
The http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop site shows 14.04.03 LTS and 15.10
versions down

All,
I have decided to go with another email provider, but I need to be able
to get my current email stored locally (archived). What is the easiest
way to do that?

Hi,
no, there currently isn't any way to modify its behaviour.
Even, a workaround had been added, but it might be removed once a real
solution is implemented. See:
