I'm using Evolution 2.4.0 with SuSE 10 and have found a lot of
instablity/crashes and a lot of things that "just don't work".
Is it even worth my time trying to get? I love Evolution as a client and

thing is evolution only requires gstreamer and not gstreamer-plugins. Is
this a requirements bug? I am running fedora core rawhide and
evolution-2.5.90.

IIRC, it was removed due to performance reasons. You will have to type
some name to search the contacts in ldap addressbook.
