Luke, I'd recommend going with a 3-phase motor and then add a VFD. Not only will this allow single-phase operation, but will let you vary the speed. I'd check surplus places because it's going to be much cheaper than Grainger. The starting place is a NEMA frame chart: https://www.engineeringtoo

I'm also working on converting a gas powered chipper to electric power (likely powered via a NEMA 14-50 outlet). This is mostly a paper design / BOM at this point, but I'm really tired of the noisy/smelly/messy gasoline engine in this thing. This device uses a Viper 212CC gasoline motor. Accordi

Hi,  I'm in the Portland, Or area, and interested in converting an old BCS walk behind to electric. I searched on Craigslist  and Offerup but couldn't find your ad. Could you provide a link? Thanks, Matt On Friday, October 28, 2022 at 06:49:43 AM PDT, Mark Lindgren via EV wrote: I hav

I have an Electrac Rototiller for sale with a 12 horse 36 V DC motor that might work well for you. The ads are on Portland craigslist and Portland offer up. -mark > On Oct 27, 2022, at 9:41 AM, Ken Olum via EV wrote: > > You might want to look at the motors from http://motenergy.com. I used

You might want to look at the motors from http://motenergy.com. I used their ME1007 to repower the snowblower on my Electric Ox and it has served me very well. They have a bunch of 4.8kW motors running at 3000-3600rpm, which matches your needs. They would certainly be sufficient, maybe overkill,

Hi, The last piece of gas-powered equipment I have is a Simplicity chipper-vac -- it's a great piece of equipment that chips up to 3-inch branches and vacuums and shreds leaves and lawn debris. The only drawback is the gas engine, which is an 8HP Briggs & Stratton 4-stroke -- it has an electri
