Now there is.
(setq org-provide-todo-statistics 'all-headlines)
will do the job.
I haven't implemented this for org-provide-checkbox-statistics because

Hello,
we want to have a "traditional" reference section in a software
documentation we are currently writing using org-mode. Org's Footnote
feature is almost perfect for the job, however, I prefer the "[123]"-
type of reference rather than the superscript notation org generates
for HTML-e

Ah, yes. Properties. Being a new user I haven't yet used them,
so they didn't occur to me.

It might be worth considering going all the way and allowing a list of
todo kw that will affect statistics.

Hi Totti,
just a few words regarding preserving links.
About /finding/ links, I just added this simple function, which is
quite handy I guess:
(defun org-occur-link-in-agenda-files ()
"Create a link and search for it in the agendas.
The link is not stored in `org-stored-links', it is just cr

Done. Setting `org-provide-todo-statistics' to a list of TODO keywords
will only compute todo statistics against headlines containing a keyword
from this list.

Ok, now I'm pissed and bummed...
I *REALLY* want to use Org-Mode for my GTD stuff, task lists, etc, etc,
etc. However, one of my biggest gripes is that I don't have access to
my data when I'm away from the computer or its turned off (i.e. grocery
shopping, watching TV at night, and so on...)
