This is what "fixed-width" sections are fore, they not only don't
become tables, but they also ensure that export to html will use a
fixed-with font, so that the drawing is preserved.
Each line of a fixed-width section starts with a colon, like

The 4.57 release had several problems for XEmacs users. Sorry for the
mess.
If you are using XEmacs and have downloaded yesterday this new release,
please
go to the site and download it *again*.
