I have a doubt about two kind of links, that are very similar in functionality:
id links with search options and <> links
What would be the best option?
In terms of performance, id links could be better, since the search is narrowed
to the contents of a headline, while <> link has to search

You are suggesting a number of new diverse features.
Ideally, it is better to discuss and add them separately.
Especially, when we move ahead and discuss the concrete implementations
or patches.

Joke aside, for Python, how you return the value depend of if you use a
session or not.
By default, a Python code block do not use a session. In this case, when
executed, the code is wrapped into a Python function and then this
function is called. So, to return a value,
