OK, you win.
I went back to fan speed (0) NOR and with FT8 at 400+ watts, the KPA500
is only "doing" 56C max AND fan speed (2) is maxing also at 56C. So,
yes I will run the fan at (0) NOR.
Also, "rest" for NOR is 44C.

Scanning through the manual I saw that the ALC voltage to be applied on pin
15
of the ACC connector needs to be in the 0 - +5V range. This worries me a
bit because
many (if not virtually all) linear amps output a NEGATIVE ALC voltage for

My K2 suddenly lost it's sidetone. No keying monitor (I use internal keyer),
and no sound in tune mode. No offset tone. It has output to antenna or dummy
load.
All else seems to work ok.

I'm sure most of you have done this already, but I've just made my first K2 to
K2 QSO. I had just finished a QSO and was going to go QRT for the night when I
heard another station calling me. N0TK in the Denver area gave me a nice
report even though I was struggling to pull his info out of the

It looks like the K2 and I will get a free trip to Rome (the one in Italy)
sometime soon courtesy of the employer.
I have never operated in Europe before and would like some insights and tips
you might have.
I will have power (220 and 120 VAC) and some room for a small antenna on a

I have a Hakko soldering reel holder. It has a ground screw for a ground wire.
I thought it was for grounding to your ground rod but the pic shows your
supposed to clip it to the circuit board your soldering on. does it matter?
