The old tried and true method is to use an X-acto knife to scrape the
insulation off with. Simple, not very elegant but it always works.

Wayne,
Please consider adding a feature in the next KX3 (and others) update-the
ability to turn diddle on or off during during idle input from the paddle or
terminal. Please, please!

The KX2 will fit in a pocket. The KX3 will fit in, er, a bigger pocket. You
hardly know they are there. Neither one requires oil or paper and barely make
any noise.
My old 28ASR fit in the back of a pickup and weighed 260 lbs. How do I know
that?

Hi Frank,
I operate, or at least listen quite a bit with my KX3 outdoors even if
it's just out in the back yard. I find the charger to be
indispensable. I use the ubiquitous Radio Shack 3A P.S. and Eneloop
batteries and don't know how I would manage with this setup.

The ubiquitous Radio Shack 22-124A (and its variants) power supply is
a perfect match for the KX-3. Manufactured by the millions and cheaper
than dirt on that watery place or under hamfest tables it meets the
current-handling needs of the KX-3.

My Radio Shack supply is entirely quiet, it is a classic
straight-through design. No switching going on here.

I have the same question and begged Elecraft to produce a satellite compatible
rig. The answer I am thinking is, no. It seems only one antenna port is
dedicated to VHF/UHF. I hope I am wrong, would love to hear from Eric or Wayne
on this.

A sleeper of a paddle is the Whiterook MK-44 from electronicsusa.com.
I hesitate to call it a cheap paddle, as that tends to refer to an
inferior product. It is a robust, affordable, lightweight paddle that

I can't help you with the screw size, but I recommend contacting
Elecraft on this. The point on one of the screws is ground down to
eliminate some type of physical interference in the KX3. It would be
wise to use the screws that come with the paddle.

Has anybody had difficulty copying W1AW RTTY transmissions on their
KX3 lately?
This past weekend I had no problem copying the BARTG RTTY contest on
any band. Lately though, when I tune in the W1AW RTTY bulletin, I
print gobbledygook (that's a high falutin' term for it don't make no
sense at all).
I wondered if were that, or if they changed baud rate. I tried
contacting Joe Carcia station manager, but he must be home with his
family at this hour. Will try again tomorrow. Thanks Jim!

Hey guys,
The transverter is sensitive enough to hear low Earth orbiting
satellites with a 3-element hand-held yagi clearly. I'd jump on it,
but I already have one.

I have heard of that happening on HF in transmit-perhaps RF getting
back into the mic when the antenna is rather close to the rig? I don't
xmit on 2m with mine, I only use it for satellite listening.
