Just in case you guys wonder where this stuff came from, it was used to
hold up military camouflage netting. Those paddle base plates really aren't
base plates, they were used at the top of the mast sections to keep it from
tearing through the netting.
This stuff takes a little getting used to a
supply worked nicely for running the K2 and keeping
it's internal battery charged by setting the voltage to 14.5 (well within
it's range).
Both supplies have external terminal strips for AC in and DC out.

I have to echo W3FPR's advice. I had a Viewsonic monitor myself, and I DID
shield the inside, put ferrites on the VGA input cable, put chokes, ferrites
& capacitors on the AC input as well, and didn't even manage to reduce the
radiated noise. I suspect it's coming from the CRT itself.

I haven't tried the LiPoly batteries yet, but I did find a fairly decent
bargain on NiMH batteries & charger at one place. They are made in China,
but the quality seems okay. Got 20 (count 'em) 20 2300 MaH AA batteries and
a charger that holds 10 at a time for about 50 bucks
Addition -- I had the battery vendor wrong - batteryspace.com not
batteryspot -- usual disclaimer, not connected to them in any way, just
reasonably satisified with their product. They have a bunch of different
battery/charger combo's.

Yesterday, I was gifted with an older Fluke Model 92B Series 2, 60 MHz
ScopeMeter. Battery pack was shot, but it runs just fine on the wall-wart.
The guy that gave it to me and I have worked together on vari
160 is starting to quiet down - have 35 worked in an hour - started at 21:30
and it's now 22:46Z. Have to leave for my wife's office Christmas Party,
but we won't stay too late and will probably get a bunch more in later

Just worked FK8GJ in Noumea, New Caledonia on 40 CW with the K2 @ 5 watts.
He had a real nice signal into Kansas this morning 569 and no QRN. The
surprise was catching him before the pack jumped on him, and he had already
been spotted on the net. He was also wanting to rag-chew a bit which was a
exposed parts are firmly at ground potential and check all newly purchased
things of that nature to insure that the plugs are indeed polarized, and
that the wide blade of the plug is connected to the shell side of all lamp
sockets. Eliminates a whole lot of grief.

You forgot to mention to watch out for following pedestrians. They tend to
step on the drag wire and this gets interesting when it comes up short.
Tends to yank the KX1 out of your hand, or in my case, bust the BNC to
binding post adapter off. Also taught me to buy a Pomona BNC to BP adapter.

works really well and will pick up close stations with 20 foot wire antenna.
Needs high impedance headphones, either crystal or magnetic (2K impedance or

I have one IC-2100H, 2 meter FM rig for sale. Rig is minus microphone (got
run over by wife's car) and power cord (standard T type connector). Would

problem here under Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on an HP 6300 running
an Intel Core i5 quad core processor, 16 gig of ram. It came loaded
with the 32 bit version of Win7 Pro and I made the mistake of loading
all my programs on
Unfortunately, my experience with Bioenno's chargers is that they are EXTREMELY
RFI noisy. In the same house with my KX3 the noise was over S9!

I don't usually chime in on these threads, but not all LED's are
culprits. I had originally replaced all the incandescent bulbs in my
house with the compact fluorescent (CFL) type. My noise floor went up a
couple of dB when any of them were on, so after a couple of those so
called "5000 hour
st in will get right of first refusal. If after a week
the package hasn't sold, I reserve the right to either sell the items
individually or keep the package.

build around 10:30 and continued through yesterday with a few breaks.
