Not sure if this should be reported as a bug, I think it deals with one
ISPs interpretation of SIP standards.
Normally to connect to my ISP (T-Online) SIP/VOIP service I use xten

I'd rather use Ekiga, but have run into various problems when registering.

Otherwise, appears ekiga does work with t-Online.

John,
I suspect I may be jumping into the middle of a conversation without
all the information, but wanted to lend my bit into this. Please forgive
me if I've misunderstood something.
The goal is to send/receive high-quality video over the Internet to
enable such things as lip-reading.

Damien,
My suggestion would be to add 2 config parameters, perhaps not
necessary, but perhaps helpful:
#1 set "do not fragment" option - this would cause ekiga to set all
outbound video and/or audio frames, or leave it default, which i believe
is already set "do not fragment"
#2 set DSCP to

I live in Germany, and Ekiga with T-Online VOIP does not work terribly
well. T-Online says they adhere to all SIP RFCs and standards, but I do
not agree or believe this.
Using just plain Ekiga.net or other SIP accounts, it works.
The druid NAT detect shows "Cone NAT" and recommends a S

Perhaps I added confusion.
If your friend uses T-Online as an ISP, and wants to use Ekiga to do SIP
with an ekiga.net account, this should work, for me - the connection
requires STUN.
So forget using T-Online VOIP, they just happen to be the ISP in this
case. should work fine.
here is my set
ed the STUN forwarding, probably not.

Damien,
Thanks very much for the analysis. I'll try to get an answer out of them.
I will try the codec/video idea.

#3 if everything is configured, the "configuration assistant" - when
choosing the network interface type - does not run the NAT detect.

Nice work.

All,
Possibly for beginners only, please excuse the basic info contained herein.
After beating my head flat trying to get Ekiga 3.0.2 to compile on
opensuse 10.3, I posted one query to this list.
Rather than giving me a complete answer, Eugen kindly pointed me in the
right direction.
I download

Robert,
It's not a bandwidth issue.
There are two main sources of echo in telephony networks: acoustic echo
and line echo. Acoustic echo is generated on any phone (IP phone or
analog) when there is feedback from the speaker to the microphone.
This is particularly noticeable on many speaker phone
