I am a Skype user who has recently been introduced to Ekiga. Of
course, I now have the task of convincing some of my contacts to use
Ekiga, so I went to the Ekiga website to see what Windows users would
be up against in installing the app. I did not even get to download
the application before reali
These are good and valid concerns.
I am trying to think how to implement those changes.

Thank you for taking me seriously, Simos. I hate to post to a new
list with a post so critical. Hopefully as things improve we can help
spread the use of Ekiga. Right now I have no users to test my

I tried making a test call with Ekiga 3.2.0 with the Test Call
service. When I tried to hang up, Ekiga locked up and I could not
perform any functions. There was no terminal output for the entire
session, which included me configuring the client:

Hi,
I just installed the latest Ekiga on Windows XP. When installing, it
said that it was unable to automatically configure my network, and
directed me to the page instructing me to set up port forwarding. This
would be fine, except my Linksys WRT54G2 seems to be having some
trouble with port forw

Hi, thanks for the reply. I actually think it's the DSL modem that is
more likely to be the cause of the problems. Right now it appears to
be configured to use NAT, as opposed to acting as a network bridge,
and it doesn't present any configuration options through its web
interface. So the PC now is

Please let me know what you think. Thanks,
STUN has nothing to do with Windows. It's provided by Ekiga and
ekiga.net. Your issue is relat

I believe there are two issues here: the first being that I cannot
find the STUN configuration options in the Ekiga 3 UI; and the second

I just wanted to comment on the fact that unlike Skype, Ekiga uses real
VoIP protocols. Skype, on the other hand,
Bell Canada fail :(
The SpeedStream 5200 ADSL modem support neither port forwarding nor
bridged network connection. So, unfortunately, it really does seem
like clever NAT traversal is my only hope. Unfortunately, I don't
really have an in-depth knowledge of how STUN works, so I don't know

Skype makes NAT traversal really, really easy, so much that it's a
non-issue. I feel like this may be an area where Ekiga is lacking.
