Ville, I've had the same issue with windows completely disappearing. The
workaround is to completely disable the screen saver:
* sudo apt-get install xscreensaver
* Start scrensaver from the main menu
* Disable the screensaver by setting Display Mode to "Disable Screen Saver",
and in Advanc

Thanks Alex,
That is exactly the setup... Have laptop and monitor for extended
desktop, with monitor as primary and on RIGHT-SIDE. The launcher is on
the primary monitor(right-side), and encounters the problem. Sorry, I
did not think to experiment with putting the Launcher on the laptop...

I am also having the same problem with the System Menu disappearing in
Ubuntu 13.10 (x86). This was a clean install, not an upgrade.

I see this same problem on my 13.10 install when using several newer
models of Logitech wireless mice. The mouse battery charge status is
displayed in the notification area instead of the laptop battery.

I'm running both Unity and Cinnamon in 14.04 with lightdm. That way
unity-greeter takes over on logout from both.
To get display power off to work on my desktop I added (username) and root to

I've been waiting since last summer to update my netbook from 12.04. I'm
now thinking of switching to Linux Mint which I'm using on a couple of
other machines.

This bug describes a behaviour that I'm currently seeing although not
with arrow keys. I am on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with Unity 7.2.0. The
behaviour I've noticed affects key combinations EXCEPT arrow keys and
isn't an issue when I first boot my machine.
My machine has been running for 3.5 hours and n
I just booted this morning and noticed it in the first few minutes.
After a reboot it is fine. There must be some combination that is
triggering this. I will report back if I find anything else of
relevance.
