I completely removed my google account and it still didn't help. Is
there any way to set this service to not start at all? At this point
the only thing I have found to even make my laptop usable is 'killall
unity-panel-service'

Accepted appmenu-qt5 into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/appmenu-
qt5/0.3.0+16.04.20151130-0ubuntu2 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

I set the 'indicator-datetime-service' package set to 'stop' in the
system monitor, which is a great temporary fix. Just right-click on the
service and you will see 'stop' in the context menu.

Removing indicator-application. Problem here is that nm-applet is
spewing icons across dbus and updating the menu constantly. Compiz has
to redraw the area for every icon change, and that eats CPU. nm-applet
has always had this problem, even under gnome2, for the animated
connecting icon.

Brian, I just updated the package from xenial-proposed (appmenu-qt5
/xenial-proposed,now 0.3.0+16.04.20151130-0ubuntu2 amd64). This bug is
fixed. No other issues detected.
