using xfce4-panel pid would only effect someone using multiple sessions
and different DEs which would be limited to certain combinations for
example Xubuntu and Lubuntu DEs would get along with each other but they
would not get along with the ot

Actually I just gave this a try running 13.04 and noticed the following:
With Alt+F2 I can type in a path, and if I hit enter at a folder, Nautilus
opens to that folder. If I enter the full path to a file and hit enter, nothing
