Public bug reported:
I use quite rarely Unity search, but I do use is both for software
search and file search and after a while, zeitgeist gets to use huge
amounts of memory. Right now, it uses 700+ MB of memory which is a lot.
I really do not need that a program I use 15 times in 24 hours to eat
Oh, yes, I am forced to disable the shortcut because I like using
ALT+key shorcuts in programs. Even Terminal has copy/paste with ALT.

As I do not use a mouse (I use only the touchpad), I got used to scroll
even if I have one window. It is so nice and fast, I see it as a
feature, not a bug. Maybe it is better if this comes as an option (tick)
in Appearance settings, who wants it could activate or deactivate it.

If I understand it correctly, if I am using Firefox and I also have 3
open windows with Nautilus, for changing to one of the 3 windows of
Nautilus, I have to one click and then scroll on the Launcher icon. It
was nicer just to scroll, without the click. It is faster and I really

This is how my calendar shows today. As you can see, I still have the
14th selected, it is 2 days old.
PS: I might not have restarted my computer since my click on time->calendar but
it does not matter, I still do not get why that date remained selected.

Yes, it is reproducible.
Click on the clock. Calendar opens. Click on a day, it will change
background color. Do your stuff on the computer. Tomorrow do the same,
you will see the day you previously selected still selected.
I do not get it why my selection would be active once I went out of that
I am adding another screenshot where you can see unity launcher bar, it
might help. Shutter is also a very frequent used program, but it starts
automatically with Ubuntu, so I almost never start it by hand.
Virtualbox is also quite often used.

I am not sure if it is a but or just something I do not understand. In
my understanding, when I press Ubuntu/Win/Dash button, the list of
programs and files listed there should be either the most frequently
used or the last ones used programs / files. I have just restarted the

I do not know the reason for keeping a day marked in the calendar
(unity-panel-service) as it is confusing. I must have selected the
yesterday's day and now I see it selected in the calendar. Sometimes I
see even an older day. It should flush it. See the screenshot.

Public bug reported:
I have started Shutter from Dash. If I look in System Monitor, it is
shown as "Compiz". The same happens to Firefox, started from the left
bar, but not always. I guess it is a bug. See the attached screenshot.

Seeing this thread, I think it is extremely easy to reproduce this
behaviour. At least I haven't found a way to avoid it. Now we are
holding breath until some fix comes out of the oven. :)

It is already some months since the Ubuntu computer gets unresponsive
and cannot be used because of this bug. Does anyone know how long it
could take until we see some permanent fix (disabling some program's
menu might be some kind of workaround, but it is not a solution)?
Thanks!

I also confirm I have this bug since I installed Ubuntu 13.10, did not
see it on 13.04 (or it wasn't so bad). I used GIMP these days and the
laptop becomes unresponsive from time to time, the menus do not open or
they open after lots of time, etc. This is no way of using the
computer..

It is the first time I search for Cinelerra. Searching "cinele" in Dash
