Could this be related to the issue of unity top left menu getting no
clicks, application underneath gets the click?

The Unity search won't find any apps sometimes. Right now I'm not able
to see gimp, synaptic, firefox, nautilus, ANY apps, either from the home
or applications section of Unity.

Yikes, I just noticed after clicking in the upper right dropdowns, then
clicking in the password and entering password, it worked, and what I'd
previously typed was in the terminal (which had had focus)!

When this happened to me, I could choose switch-account from the upper
right menu, then log back in to my session.

here because it's only one text box - lock screen.

Unity disappears after launching Netbeans 7.4 beta, on 12.04. Top and
left panel aren't visible, although I can get a tooltip of the launcher,
hovering where it should be, and I can launch apps.
