Saw an update for indicator-sound just now .
indicator-sound (12.10.2+15.04.20150205-0ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium
Double checked that indicator-sound worked correctly.
Updated and rebooted.
Sound Settings no longer starts from indicator.

Ran ubuntu-bug -s audio to pick up more sound related information.
Sound works fine.

Booting with a livesession of vivid - get the same.
No sound indicator.
Pulse is running.

Clean installed to new drive and partition.
sound indicator fails to start
upstart --user --startup-event indicator-services-start
tries to start indicator - space in indicators shows where it is,
clicking and menu doesn't appear

I appear to see the same thing - though in an install I accepted ALL
except lightdm update.
This is an Xubuntu install - nothing in lightdm.conf.d/ and no
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf at all

What we'd like to know is how you set this machine up - is it a xubuntu
install with ubuntu added, ubuntu with xubuntu installed, ubuntu with
thunar installed.
I've not been able to confirm this issue - more detail of how you got to
where you are will help. Thanks.
