unity-lens-video is building just fine, marked as invalid. The other
four are suffering from Vala incompatibilities and I'm working through
them now.

I can confirm this in Comsol Multiphysics, and various versions of

I've just encountered this on a Lenovo Thinkpad T520.
No password prompt, no gear icon, just a grey box with my name in it. Had to
restart lightdm which is inconvenient to say the least.

Since dist-upgrade to 14.10 Utopic, my system appears to be using

I experience this occasionally, but it's inconsistent. Sometimes the
lock screen works on resume and other times it does not. I cannot
reliably reproduce the error.

I really don't think the status is correct. The fix was only released
for the beta release of Ubuntu. Shouldn't bug fixes also be applied to
current stable releases?

I echo the sentiments in #36 by @fburolo. As part of my job, i have to
work with specialized software that only runs on Windows. It's very
feature-rich, but most of the features are buried two tiers deep in the
menu structure with no easier way to get to them. If only Windows had

Any chance the fix will be applied to 14.04? Backports? Is there some
other way I can get it (preferably without manually downloading and
installing the .deb)?

the best workaround I have come up with is:

- run compizconfig-settings-manager
- go to place windows
- go to fix windows placement tab
- create new (windows with fixed positions)

The only thing I can think of is that we run pulseaudio in system mode,
so that MPD can be running regardless of who may or may not be logged in
on console.

You're kidding, right? :)

When nobody is logged in on console, but pulseaudio and mpd are running,
indicator-sound uses 50-70% of CPU. This is bad for power consumption
and also bad for background jobs running in a vnc4server session.

I don't know why you marked this invalid, Christopher. This is
definitely affecting me still on kernel 3.11.0-11. There was no
indication of a fix.

Indeed, HUD management and communication has been quite poor for some

I agree with both Rudiger and David. This is a huge loss of
functionality and a step backwards. I had grown quite accustomed to
frequently controlling my app indicators for Pithos, Caffeine, and
Transmission from HUD.
