As shown the transitions from color to color get hashed, and hatching
occurs on the right side of the screen. also hatching occurs on the
right side of a titlebar.
Applies to x86 & x64 ubuntu, and also as a cross check I tried the

inactive for" time and "Lock screen after" time under "Brightness and
Lock" under "System Setting".

I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04 and first noticed that this problem
has been resolved, but there are still some complications it seems.
When I ran Nautilus as root (using the command "gksu nautilus") I
suddenly saw that the Unity Launcher background switched to the default
background again.
