It got a little bit more complicated.
After a minor patch update, it started working.
Then after another minor patch update, it stopped working again.
Software Updater was not in the 2nd patch update.
This indicated to me that it is one of the other packages that is causing an

this, and to provide a second use-case example. Apologies if this bug
report is too old to be noticed any more. Although the issue described
below doesn't prevent me from doing anything in the long term, it is
very irritating.
In my case, I think this bug disappeared when I changed from Unity2D to Unity3D.
So either it has been fixed (which I doubt) or it only affects Unity2D.

Hi AMDave, I used to encounter this issue and it's still fixed for me on
Unity 7.0.0. Maybe the issue you and others are experiencing has a
different cause, so please file a separate bug rerpot with `ubuntu-bug
