I think it was fixed in a later 3.1-rc version, although just at the moment I

Please grab radeonreg (http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~airlied/radeontool/) and
dump the display registers with KMS and without KMS (as root).
./radeonreg regs avivo > working.regs
