All Hawaii cards should have a TDP switch on the side of the card. Can you flip
the switch when the computer is powered off and do the testing again. You can
google some info about that switch.

Things are much better now but there is usually a delay in my display waking up
after display sleep (not full system sleep).

On my end I re-tried to play ns2_linux32 with my R9 390X two days ago running
Linux 4.9 (amdgpu), Mesa 17~git and LLVM 4~svn and I was able to play a
complete alien tutorial without crashes and the renderin
