UVD works well on Windows.
When playing 720p video, cpu usage stays below 1%.
Could it be something wrong with Intel/AMD switchable graphics? I also have a
Intel HD4000 on my laptop.

Interestingly nouveau seems to side-step this issue entirely by simply
setting up debugfs for every minor. For other drivers it seems like the
solution wouldn't be as easy, since there are many more files in debugfs
and they can come from subdevices as well.

Thirded. Tegra should be able to use a hardware-agnostic description of
these as well. I wonder if perhaps VESA or some other standard already
defines such a format for some of these properties.
