I thought that was the case. We have two connectors now, but no input to the
monitor (atleast on the DVI-D output). So our controllers and ddc lines must be
wrong?

1) Does r300c lock up too?
2) Set these environment variables:
RADEON_NO_TCL=1
RADEON_DEBUG=notiling,noimmd,fakeocc
and please let me know whether it helps or not.

Well, I understand KMS won't work without the radeon module loaded, but it
shouldn't crash, it should give an error message. Starting X with KMS enabled
but module not loaded should
