[Dovecot] Ubuntu 9.x segmentation fault with vpopmail auth

I've been trying for 24 hours now, to get an IMAP server which will autenticate off of vpopmail cdb database and the auth module always segfaults on login. I'm using vpopmail 5.5.0 only because it is the only version which seems to create a dynamically linked version of the library. I tried lates
