I had 4 broken mdbox files for 4 different users.
After deleting them, dovecot re-indexed, now everything is ok again.
I can try to update tonight again to 2.3.11.3 and see if some broken
files will appear again tomorrow.

I would say "elsif" itself is a typo - in most languages it is "elseif".
in that case both versions should be valid keywords - the current (but

this would not introduce downsides but makes programmers life a bit more

The error you're encountering during the build process for Dovecot
2.3.16—specifically, "checking whether fd passing works... no"—likely
relates to missing dependencies or system capabilities for file
descriptor (fd) passing. File descriptor passing is typically required

Hi Zane,
What you received is not an Outlook archive (like a .pst or .csv file)
but rather a Maildir—a standard way for Unix‑based mail servers (like
Dovecot) to store email. In a Maildir, each email is stored as its own
file inside folders (often named with a leading dot, such as |.NEWMAIL|,
Thumbs up for that.
It costs nothing and adds value. Cant see any downsides (which might
exist, aki might elaborate).

To answer your curiosity about the *"cur"* folder in your Dovecot email

Dovecot follows the *Maildir* format, which organizes emails into
directories for better performance and reliability. Each mailbox (or
