Just for the record, I took Timo's suggestion, and went to just using
dotlocks. The problem hasn't return (at least not yet).

I see this from time to time too. But if right click on the folder in
thunderbird, select properties from the context menu, and hit rebuild
index in the properties dialog, it fixes it. It crops up for me several
times a day.
I'm still back at 1.1.rc1 though.

I believe I saw 1.0 in unstable. Shouldn't be a big deal to backport
that to sarge.
