and LDAP in some sane way. This could end-up being more trouble than
worth, though.

In my case I'm using the LDAP just for checking if a user is present on
the system and for authentication purposes (for the mail server).
Haven't tried using quota etc with LDAP.
Anything in particular you're having problems coping with? :)

Btw, SSL and TLS are kind of the same things (or to be more precise
when people are talking about it they refer to the same thing, unless
they're crypto techies which are using the terminology correctly :)

It's quite probab
ded-up abandoning them in favour of
group sticky bits on directories (wanted to administer the web app
with regular account, while still letting the Apache access files
using umask 0007).
So, personally, I'd avoid using them.

something similar).
