I have been using dovecot for years happily with SendMail on mainly
CentOS servers, and my customers are starting to more and more use
Thunderbird, so my perfect model is:
Linux --> Dovecot --> SendMail --> Thunderbird
fixed, but I am past the two hour mark now with no problems...
I have absolutely no problem with MS Outlook 2013 and Dovecot and I have it
on four machines. I did have to tweak the root folder path though once. I am
not sure exactly why, but that took care of everything.

config. To get it work with outlook 2013, i also added XLIST to imap
capability string. basically this is working.

i think about of moving all the special_folders stuff to userdb and let
every user decide on its own.
2 reasons.
1: outlook 2013 and may be other clients only work correct if
special_folders on server are autocreated (auto=subscribe). Even when adding
the special_folders
