[Dovecot] 2.1 Plans

2011-10-10 Thread Steve Fatula
Back in early 2010, Timo posted about a potential 2.1 feature to in essence reduce the number of imap/pop3 processes using various techniques since the code already supports multiple connections. It even went as far as moving all idle connections.  I don't see this on the 2.1 roadmap. Is it sti

[Dovecot] Filesystem quotas

2011-10-09 Thread Steve Fatula
I am wondering if I really need to use dovecot quota functions or not. Assume for the moment, that, each system user has a quota defined using Linux quotas, and that the Maildir is within their quota limited directory. So, any mail (or files created by the user etc) that would exceed the quota o

[Dovecot] LDA/Postfix with quotas and without LMTP

Reading the wiki page for dovecot2 and LDA/Postfix, the system users section (all mail delivery goes to system users)... It shows you can simply use postfix mailbox_command. There is this additional comment: "This command doesn't do a userdb lookup. If you want that (e.g. for per-user quota loo

[Dovecot] Sieve, before script - Can it include "personal" scripts?

2011-09-10 Thread Steve Fatula
Using sieve_before, can the script it references include a file from the personal space? I want to set some parameters (by user using the variables extension) there to control what the before script does, so, every user would have the file in their personal include space. If not, is there anot

[Dovecot] MySQL, map files

2011-09-08 Thread Steve Fatula
I'll try and break up my questions the other day about extdata that went unanswered into pieces in the hopes it will be more specific and clear. In general, I am trying to figure out the syntax of the map statement and what is allowed in that statement. So, by map statement, I mean for example p

[Dovecot] Extdata plugin, MySQL

Does someone have an example of configuring the Pigeonhole Sieve Extdata plugin with MySQL dict? Particularly, the map and what key might be used in this? The doc in the wiki isn;t clear at all to me when one wants to use MySQL store. The file in the doc folder of the mercurial repository is bas

2011-08-20 Thread Steve Fatula
Using current Apple mail 4.5 as client to Dovecot 2.0.13 I see lots of these messages in the log file for one machine and account. Near as I can tell, the client still works (it's mine), but, the messages concern me. Is there some known issue with Apple mail, or, if not, how to capture the info

[Dovecot] Dovecot2 Antispam plugin questions

2011-07-21 Thread Steve Fatula
Tried to find some doc on this (other than the c code), couldn't, so, asking. I do almost every programming language, except C! When using DSPAM backend with this tool, will the plugin send ONLY the signature and not the entire message to dspam for retraining? Concerned about very large emails.

[Dovecot] Dovecot 2, Imap service, client_limit

2011-07-19 Thread Steve Fatula
I see back in November of last year, a thread about using client_limit in the imap service (not imap-login) that would allow each imap process serve more than one connection. Sounded good, until I tried it! When I did, unlike the OP of that thread, I got: dovecot: imap(submit.user): Fatal: set
