There are tons of tutorials available across the interwebs. Are you
trying to set it up with a MySQL authentication backend or local
accounts? Can you run “dovecot -n” to show us the full configuration for
further assistance?
Thank you

Hi everyone,
I am having a bit of trouble setting up Dovecot for IMAP access. I’ve installed
Dovecot and configured the main configuration file,, but I am not sure if I
missed something important. Here’s what I have so far ::-
1. Dovecot Version: 2.3.11
2. OS: Ubuntu 20.04
3. Configuration File

Hi John,
I'm not sure the DB lookup key includes the username ("resposit" in my

I tried to see what gets written in .dovecot.lda-dupes but it looks
like a binary file (doveadm dump does not help). This is what I see

Hi,
From what I understood from the archive and from my tests, we cannot
have multiple passwords for a given account. (I get the error: Password
query returned multiple matches)
But it looks like it can be done via a PAM module.
Does anyone succeeded setup multiple password with PAM or any other
Hi,
I'm interested in SMTPUTF8 support in Dovecot.
It seems it's still not implemented? Any plans on implementing it? How much
work would it be?
I couldn't find any mention of this functionality.
Postfix has support which is enabled by default but it's not usable if
Dovecot doesn't support it.

Okay, I will give that a shot and see if it works. I have another
question also regarding sieve filters. I am running RSPAMD and have a
Sieve filter set up to move emails marked as SPAM to the “Junk” folder.
In my Sieve configuration, I also have the following configuration
settings:
sieve_sp
Sure. If you want. But this prevents your users from having multiple Sieve
scripts, like one for vacation, and one for not-vacation.
But sure. you can have sieveFilter table with just email and id number of 1.

It's OK to hide it to the mailbox table as sieveFilterID.
Then you can do
map {
pattern = priv/sieve/name/default
table = mailbox
username_field = email
value_field = sieveFilterID
}
