/etc/rc.local ;
chgrp audio /dev/snd/*
> chmod g+rw /dev/snd/*
Not sure why they aren't like that by default :)

FYI , i had great success with the -pi3 , -pi1 and -sunxi images. Just
install like normal (dd the image to SD , check dhcp leases for the IP ,
ssh into it with root:toor) and upgrade to ascii after that​ like you
normally would on any install.

pulseaudio by default doesnt run 'systemwide' and typically only allows
'the user that started it' access to the audio devices (aka, your steam
user)
maybe google about systemwide-pulseaudio , or checkout pipewire perhaps
