after your answer, I have tried to edit the ~/.profile file and
/etc/profile/ but still, I can't see my key inside my VM instance
i am putting
SECRET_KEY="jhsgdjadtad876s87dsadsad7sa"
in the above file .but when i run the command "env" i can see my key
