Why not use the pre-built boost that comes from your OS's
package-manager? Much easier

i download and install liboost 1.44.0
with the next commands:
./bootstrap.sh --show-libraries
./bootstrap.sh --with-libraries=thread,date_time,program_options
./bjam --prefix=/opt/boost_1_44_0
./bjam --prefix=/opt/b
